Wishing a very happy, healthy, and prosperous new year to one and all from the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Ophthalmology and Research (JCOR).
At the outset, I would like to thank all the readers of the JCOR and the members of the Maharashtra Ophthalmological Society (MOS) for reposing their faith in me and electing me as the Chief Editor the very prestigious JCOR. Be assured that myself along with my dynamic new team of the editorial board and honorable reviewers, will do our best and work with commitment and passion to make you all feel proud of our JCOR.
It is an arduous and monumental task to edit and compile such a prestigious scientific journal every quarter. But as they say – Nothing happens overnight.
Ophthalmological science in India has grown by leaps and bounds and is not only keeping pace with the world but is now an acknowledged leader in all spheres.
Our teachers, academicians, clinicians, and leaders in Maharashtra had a very farsighted and clear vision of the future. Their collective determination and energy have helped to shape the scientific climate for ophthalmology in Maharashtra to such high levels that we are fortunate to be experiencing today.
JCOR being the official publication of MOS is also its mouthpiece. The editorial board would like to acknowledge the work of Dr. B. K. Nayak and his team who laid the foundation for JCOR and worked diligently to make this journal a truly global phenomenon having a high level of authenticity and trust among its readers, authors, and various stakeholders. It will be our responsibility and duty to maintain its high standards and to enhance it further.
Every ophthalmologist is performing some research but is not being recognized, documented, recorded, or reported. We need to convert ideas into reality. Time is an important constraint. Everyone has only 24 h in a day. If we devote 15 min daily to think and pen down these ideas and write on paper, in about 6 months, we will have an article ready on a subject. All that is required is a little bit of motivation and help. I request everyone to join hands with my editorial board in this mission. New ideas are always welcome.
The JCOR is an indexed journal and is in the bibliographical database of CNKI, EBSCO, Google Scholar, Baidu Scholar, HINARI, Directory of Open Access Journals, IndMed, and many more. However, there are still greater heights to achieve and a long way to go for us. We plan to encompass many more systems of indexing and abstracting, which will help to increase the popularity of the journal.
As an author, I know the pain of the delay in the publication of the article. We plan to expedite the peer review process so that the article review will be completed in a specified time frame.
I am blessed to have an extraordinary strong team of advisors, editorial board members, subspecialty experts, and reviewers. I am sure with their help I will be able to achieve this herculean task.
Reviewing the article is a thankless job conducted in the background. However, it is the most critical process to raise the bar of the article, and ultimately, the journal. I earnestly request all young ophthalmologists to come forward and volunteer for this process and in turn learn the nitty-gritty of writing a world-class article.
JCOR is your journal. We appreciate the involvement of everyone. Constructive criticisms and helpful suggestions are always welcome. If members and readers wish to have a particular topic covered in the JCOR, please let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly. We would like to increase the number of issues published every year to four from the present three issues a year.
Although I feel overwhelmed and apprehensive to take over the baton from the illustrious Dr. B. K. Nayak and his team, who have worked relentlessly for the betterment of this journal and society; I am determined along with our new team to take it to greater heights under the leadership of managing committee of MOS.
Let us all pledge to work together for the betterment of science and clinical research in ophthalmology.
